A trip back in time, sorta

Some of our noble boys looking ... uh ... noble, proving that the tower our group constructed, while possibly not the STRAIGHTEST and PRETTIEST, is definitely sturdy enough to hold lots and lots of people!

This is our tiny little ward group at youth conference, which we attended in the miniscule window in July between getting back from Texas and leaving for South Dakota. Grammy came back from Texas with me and stayed with the kids so we could go to the conference. It was such a great time! We were the Jamonites, named after Jamon Smith, the "Lehi" of our group (that's him closing his eyes and wincing on the right side of the table). Greg and I were "village leaders" for our village of one family. We were a little nervous about how we'd do compared to the other, much bigger wards in our stake, but we held our own. In fact, we took first place in the Nephite Games on the second day! WOO HOO!

This is the sword I painted for myself ... I called 'er Big Blue.

This is Greg's sword ... nameless, but deadly (witness the terrifying blood spatters on the end).

Greg puts (name of nameless sword here) through its paces during some war games.

Our fearless leader intimidating the enemy with his BATTLE STARE.

I don't really know what's going on here ... but it's funny-looking. A bunch of us painted our faces with ashes from the fire pit for a trés authentic look.

The village of the Jamonites.
